Wonderful willow… The possibilities with this plant are endless… Vessels, cordage, charcoal, and instruments! See below a willow whistle wrapped with nettle cordage. All you need is a knife, some green willow, some nettles, and a generous smattering of patience! I wonder how the children will get on with this task next week?
We are running sessions on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th May, so please get in touch to reserve your child’s place. If your child loves being active, outdoors all day, immersed in nature, building camps, working as a team, making natural art and craft, cooking over a fire, making new friends, playing games, getting muddy, then they will love coming to an Ironwood session! Tell your friends and family!
Well done today kids! You did an amazing job of working and playing together, some nice team work and happy making. Bird-sized and human-sized nests, blown and painted real eggs and hunting the chocolate ones, as well as foraged nettles and wild garlic to eat for lunch! Some of us thought it was yum!
Those pesky winds again! Sadly we have to cancel as winds are predicte to be between 26 and 46mph on Tuesday, making it unsafe to enter the woods with a group of youngsters.
If you are booked onto that date, please get in touch to discuss alternative arrangements.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Book now to avoid disappointment!
Spring is one of the most exciting times to be in the woods, with signs of bluebells just poking through now, trees about to transform and chattering birds building their nests. There will be lots to see and do, and I am most looking forward to a few chocolate egg-hunts in such a stunning location.
We can’t wait to see you all again at the woods! See the dates on the ‘2015 Dates’ or ‘Holiday Club’ pages, or get in touch with us directly to find out more.
